Interview a Blogger Introduction | Blog Series

Hello Again!!

Today's post is just going to be a little announcement of my new little project, Interview a Blogger. Now I feel like I have to say this, there's a lot of shade being thrown around especially on twitter about people copying others etc etc. Now I know I'm not the first person to do this (but I'm also not the only person to do a lush haul ..) but I think it's a great idea for myself and others to get to know more bloggers better (plus it's a whole blog post about you and your blog - how could that be a bad thing?).

I've had a bigger positive response than I thought I was going to get so I have decided I will be starting it on Saturday the 16th of January and it will be every Saturday from there until I run out of willing bloggers!! So if you'd be interested in being interviewed send me an email (blogsvlogsetc@outlook.com) I'm so excited to get this started!

Things that have been making me Happy!

Hello Again,

As it's a New Year I've been trying to do more of what makes me Happy so I've been surrounding myself with great things so I thought I'd do a post on my Happy Things!

Memories.

First thing is this photo. I've been wanting to get this photo for almost two years now and the reason behind it is that there's four generations of my family in it. There's my Grandma Doreen, she's the best grandma ever (apart from my other grandma) she actually surfs on her ironing board - exactly! Then there's my Mum Pamela, she's the mum who would give her right arm, kidney and lung for someone else, then there's me and my Beautiful little girl April! A few years ago my other Grandad (not Doreen's husband) past away and that actually really did effect me and it still does but a few weeks ago my dad showed me a photo of him and April and I never knew he had it so I want to get as much photos of my family as a whole but especially my Grandparents because they've played a massive part in my life!

Organisation.

This year is the year that I've promised myself that I will be more organised and since I have been doing so I feel less stressed! My sister got me this little diary that now lives on my desk and I've been writing down all my post ideas and when they're going to go up etc. I have also just got a desk and I moved things around in my living room and I now have a little space that I now call my office! (It's the space infront of my downstairs bathroom but we don't use that anyway - well now we don't). I've just found that since I've had this I am more motivated to do blog work! I also want to get a calendar type organiser up on the wall so I can see my week/month ahead!

Colour!

I am the person who can normally be found with black/grey clothes on, brown eyeshadow - completely no colour! So recently I've been trying to incorporate more colour into my life which include this beautiful Loreal colour riche Exclusive lipstick and it's in Blake's Delicate Rose. It's a super pink shade but I really like it and it's really moisturising on the lips. I also wore an orange kimono with lovely flowers on it for New Year's Eve so that's definitely a nice change from black!

Homeware.

More specifically these glass jars! There's just something about drinking a nice cold drink from a jar with a handle! (I can't be the only one). I really like getting little bits for the house and when I was in Poundland none-the-less and saw these I just had to get some! I don't care that I'm the sad lady who gets excited about jars for juice! (Bit sad that I just referred to myself as a lady, is this what grown-up life is like? I'm only 23).

New Shoes.

I know for damn sure that I'm not the only person who gets happy about new shoes!? I'm normally either rocking my converse or my trainers but this year I'm wanting to get back in touch with my girly side (not that there's anything wrong with converse or trainers - I will still be rocking them) but I knew I wanted to get some flats so when I saw these on the Next website I just knew I wanted them. They do look and feel a bit like slippers, but if I can walk around in shoes that feel like slippers I am perfectly fine with that!

Flowers

When Sam and April came home the other day with these beautiful tulips for me it honestly just brightened up my day! I really like having fresh flowers around so I'm going to try (might not happen) and have fresh flowers on my desk at all times and if I can't manage that I might get some fake flowers that look real!

So that's whats been making me Happy recently, I also wanted to say that the blogging community and the twitter community have also made me so happy recently! I've decided to do a Interview a Blogger Blog series and there's been such a good positive response so that's made me really happy!

What's been making you happy recently?

MAC Haul

Hello Again,

As I have mentioned before, my family got me some MAC vouchers for my Christmas so basically, as soon as I had a spare minute I placed an order and today, it arrived!!

There was a couple of things that I knew I wanted based on reviews and that was the 217 Blending Brush and the matte Lipstick Whirl. The 217 is super soft and hopefully helps me with creating softer lines with my eyeshadow. I really like how long and thin the brush is, I think that'll help with lighter application.

Whirl is a deep reddy-brown lipstick and it's actually darker that I thought but I still like it. I've surprised myself in liking matte lipsticks but I've found MAC's last for a long time even throughout eating and drinking.

I have recently run out of my Pro longwear concealer by MAC but I found it really drying especially under my eyes so I thought I'd try out another kind so I chose Select Moisturecover in the shade NC15. I like that this one has a doe-foot applicator instead of the pro longwear which was just a pump.

I also decided to pick up a couple of eyeshadows the first being a satin shadow in the shade Brule. I wanted this one as I thought it would be a really good transition shade (I'm going to be trying to do more things eyeshadow wise other than my typical golds and browns). The other was a frost shadow in the shade White Frost. This is perfect for the inside corner of the eye as a highlight, i've found this really opens up the eyes and the pearlescence of this shadow is perfect! I may also try this under on the brow bone too - may be a bit too white for that though.

Because I spent over a certain amount I got a free sample of their zoom fast black lash mascara, I'll give this a try but I've not found a MAC mascara that I actually like yet, maybe this might be the one I do!

Have you bought anything from MAC recently? Got any shades you think I should try?

My Ideal Workspace | WeWork

Hello again,

After connecting with the people at WeWork I've decided to do a post on creative workspaces. Seeing as my workspace is either my sofa or actually anywhere in the house where I can get comfy, I decided to post about what my Ideal Workspace would look like.

A little bit about WeWork.

When they start WeWork in 2010, they wanted to build more than beautiful shared office spaces. They wanted to build a community. A place you join as an individual, 'me', but where you become part of a greater 'we'. A place where redefining success measured by personal fulfilment, not just the bottom line. Community is their catalyst. (where can i sign up?!) They are based in NYC with locations opening all over the world and they've just launched new office space in London, hoping to expand throughout the UK and the rest of Europe (Aberdeen?!) If you'd like to find out more about WeWork and what they do then click here.

I am also in love with their mission which is:
To create a world where people work to make a life, not just a living.

So my Ideal Workspace would be an open room with white walls and huge windows so I could daydream while looking at the clouds and a cheeky bit of people watching. I am bit of a neat freak so I would have my organising on point - probably with things being colour coded and sectioned off. I'd also love a wall of inspirational saying and quotes. I know so many people have this and I'm jealous over it, I just think it really adds a personal touch to your space.
As a blogger I have found myself sitting on my sofa for hours on end and when you do eventually get up you're all stiff and sore, so I would get a really comfortable chair with wheels too so I could spin round (like a child) and move around easily. I'd also love it to be a bright colour like a Magenta or Mint green that would really add a pop of colour! I'm a firm believer of the saying, 'A house is not a home without a plant' and I would incorporate that into my workspace with some cute little succulents and cacti (plus let's be honest, they're very easy to keep alive).

Now the desk itself, a big wooden desk would be perfect I think. Again it would be bringing in the nature aspects but it would also be very durable I think. Another important thing would be lighting! Now I live in the City of Aberdeen which is in the North East of Scotland and let me just say it's a very grey and dull city (weather wise) so as a blogger, natural light is very important but if there isn't any, a desk lamp would be beneficial and like I've said - copper would be a bonus!
So that is my Ideal Workspace! I hope you enjoyed this post and don't forget to go over and have a look at WeWork and everything that they do. Also a big thank you to the people over at WeWork for asking me to do this, it's much appreciated.

Do you have your ideal workspace? If not, what would you have in yours?

'Till next time ...
