Interview a Blogger, Ellie Bee | Blog Series

Hello Again!!

Today's blogger is Ellie! I was chatting away with her the other day about her Lemon poppy seed scones - OMG they look so damn good! I also really like how she incorporates little people into her photos it's very original!! So, let's find out a little more about Ellie!

1. Tell us something about yourself and your blog?

Well, my name's Ellie and I'm 24 years old. I live in Leicester with my manfriend Peter (I call him that because he's 31 so it seems weird calling him my 'boyfriend'), and our two lovely guinea pigs. I work at one of the universities in the city as an administrator. I like to blog in my spare time, mostly baking, but I've got a whole plan for 2016 that will hopefully take me in some interesting directions.

2. How did you get into blogging? Did someone else inspire you?

I've had several blogs before, starting with a Tumblr page, but I didn't manage to stick with them. I'm determined to make this one work because I've found some many new friends through blogging. I mostly started this time because I was fed up of having recipes on three different bits of paper. I wanted somewhere solid to keep them. I've recently started using little Preiser/Noch figures in my photography, which was inspired by artists such as Joe Shymanski (he does some amazing work with lego minifigures) and Tatsuya Tanaka. I do things a bit differently though because I put the figures into my world, rather than creating a world for the figures to live in. I want it to feel like they're invading my baking space and I'm batting them away in an affectionate way!

3. What does blogging mean to you and why?

To me it's a very social thing. There's no point writing and posting things if you can't open a discussion about what you've done. I like to write posts that require some comment, such as writing about happiness and feminism. From blogging I've met some amazing like minded people and that's really cool.

4. I personally have almost stopped blogging so, What keeps you motivated?

The desire to improve myself and my skills. I have a very boring job so I like to plan my blog on my lunch break because it keeps me going through the day. It's so much more than just baking and taking pictures; it gives me something to think about during boring days!

5. Name some (one, two or three) of your favourite bloggers and tell us why they’re your favourite?

Going to give a shout out to my local Midlands ladies here:

Discovering Charlotte - the place to go for charity shop hauls and slimming world chat. She tells it how it is and is genuinely really caring and lovely!
Hannah Bakes Things - all the cake please, plus gin and a venture into Veganuary. One of the nicest people ever!
Sherry Scribbles - I recently met Sherry at a blogging meet up and she was so lovely and beautiful. I've really enjoyed reading her blog and it's fast become one of my favourites.

6. What do you do when you’re not blogging?

I like to read non-fiction books. I can't get on with fiction. You don't get much time of Earth and I want to know what happened. I read a lot of science and nature books, as well as watching a lot of David Attenborough programmes (well he is from my city after all). I have guinea pigs so I spend a lot of time playing with them, and there's the local park to go and play in :)

7. What are you most proud of when it comes to your blog?

I think just the fact that I've managed to set it up despite working 9-5. It's really hard to start something when you feel like you're working all the time, so I'm proud of that. Hopefully I'll have more to be proud of when it gets to my blogging 1 year anniversary.

8. Everyone has a favourite and a least favourite post, what are yours?

Oh gosh, favourite is probably the Lemon and Poppy Seed Scones post http://elliebee.co.uk/?p=577 I did recently because it just looks nice. The picture turned out how I wanted to and it managed to get across all the points I wanted to.

Least favourite is probably Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats http://elliebee.co.uk/?p=359 my guinea pig had just died and I didn't feel like taking a good picture so I ended up just using one from my phone.

9. As I’m mainly a beauty blogger I feel like I have to ask at least one beauty question so: If you could only use one kind of beauty product what would it be and why?

I don't know if this counts as beauty but I couldn't live without Ultrabland from Lush. It's so useful, from cleaning off make up to putting on burns (I burn myself on the oven a lot, occupational hazard!)

10. What would you say to someone who aspires to become a blogger?

Do it because you love it, not because you want to make a living from it. Simple as that :)

Thank you to the lovely Ellie for taking part and for making me along with others very hungry!!

Come back next Saturday to see who our next blogger is.

My Top Mascara's

Hello Again,

I feel like I haven't done a beauty post in a while so I thought why not make this one?! In my questions for the bloggers who I've interviewed I've asked the question of, "If you could only use one kind of beauty product what would it be and why?" So my answer to this would be Mascara which I think would be a lot of peoples answers, am I right? So I thought I'd do today's post on my top 3 and here they are.

The bronze award goes to: Loreal False Lash Telescopic Mascara - £10.99

This Mascara is really good for lengthening your lashes, it doesn't give much volume but it does give impressive length (that sounds dirty, oo-er). The only thing that gets my goat with this Mascara is the wand, I love the shape but as it goes in the middle a bit I do tend to find poking myself in the eye with  it! Maybe that's just a shame on me not the wand, but it hurts like a bitch, doesn't it?

I used to only ever wear Soap and Glorys Thick and Fast Flash Extensions effect mascara (they have bloody long names don't they?) all the time but this one has taken over from that! This is the complete opposite to the Loreal one, this doesn't give much length but it really gives volume. When I wear this it makes me look like I'm wearing thick false lashes so I love this for a night out!

(Do Do Do Do Do Dooooo - that's my trumpet) The Gold Medal goes to:

I bloody Love this mascara!!! You know that mascara that's going round right now? The one that gives length but you have to fork out like £20.00 for? Well, this one honestly gives me everything that one claims to! Great length and Great volume and it's the cheapest out of the three! I love the wand on this as it's curved, shorter at one side and longer at the other, it's just fab!

So there are my Top three Mascara's! Have you tried any of these, if not what is your favourite?

'Till next time ...

My Perfect Workout Outfit | Farfetch

Hello Again,

Today's post is all about my 'dream' workout look! I say dream because these items are lush and come with a hefty price tag but there's every reason for that because it's all designer brands!! Also please note - I'm not the typical person who spends hours in the gym (if you are one of these people then I commend you) but an arm day for me really involves lifting the chocolate to my mouth then repeat! But when the company Farfetch reached out to me asking if I'd like to take part in an exclusive competition and after looking at their website, of course I said yes! Farfetch is a luxury fashion website and they have so much beautiful things (I'll take it all thanks). So all I had to do was choose an outfit from their Work Out collection which is fashionable yet workable, So here is what I would choose ...

I think I would rock a colour combination, so I've went for all red, grey and black. I personally, need a lot of motivation to work out so when I saw this t-shirt I just knew it had to be part of my outfit! You definitely need good vibes for going to the gym and working out. Now Ladies, I'm going to be honest with you, I need joggers with a good waist band and tier so they don't fall out when I'm working out (now that would be absolutely terrifying for everyone involved).

I am such a fan of trainers now (I think Sam's love affair with bright colourful trainers has rubbed off on me) and these are no exception! I love how it's red on the outside and pink, white and aqua blue on the inside! They're just like nothing I've seen before.

This jacket looks so comfortable and the colours just separate it from all other jackets (I would also wear this as a jumper over the T-Shirt in the gym, not necessarily just to the gym) I personally also really like the zip because if I was on the treadmill (giggled to myself while typing that because let's be honest, it's been a while since I've been on a treadmill) and got too hot it would be so easier to unzip as its bigger than a normal zip, that's a strange reason for wanting a jacket but it's those things that I look for, does that make me sad? Now this, let's take a moment of appreciation for this Vivienne Westwood Matchstick Swimsuit is such a dreamy one piece! I prefer swim suits like this because I feel it holds everything in better and I (tooting my own horn, toot toot toot) would rock this look, as would a lot of other people!! Yes for Vivienne Westwood!

Being a female, we have certain things that we need to keep under control when working out so a good sports bra is essential! I really like the back of this, keeping it fashionable yet keeping those bad boys in check!

Next up is Accessories - there was no way I could do this post without choosing some and needless to say when I saw this vampire red leather Anya Hindmarch Backpack, I knew I had to include it! Now yes, the price tag is little higher than your typical gym bag but this isn't your normal standard gym bag - it has eyes!! What more could you possibly want? I love the look of this and the leather looks so soft! Now to go along with that dream bag is this little Alexander McQueen keyring! If you're going all out you might as well go out with a bang!

If you're looking for a more relaxed workout you could strike some yoga poses on this no-ka-oi yoga mat and just know when you're doing your downward dog everyone is going to be looking at your outfit and wondering where you got it all!

So if I had free rein online at Farfetch I would definitely pick up these beauties! Take a look and see if anything catches your eye and I'm sure more than one thing will! Thank you to Farfetch for reaching out and asking me to get involved and thank you for reading! (Strangely I now want to go workout ... that never happens!)

Interview a Blogger, Dorkface | Blog Series

Hello Again,

Today's blogger that I've interviewed is the wonderful, creative, lovely Jemma of Dorkface! Surely you know who she is, if you don't you must have been living under a rock for ages! Also check out TheGirlGang as she is the creator of it and it's such a great community of people who raise each other up, it's so refreshing!

1. Tell us something about yourself and your blog?

My name is Jemma, I blog at www.dorkface.co.uk and it's my home for all my creative projects! I love to experiment with creative writing, photography, collage and paint. I also chat about my life and share my hopes and dreams with my readers :)

2. How did you get into blogging? Did someone else inspire you?

Yes! I had followed blogs for years but only got around to finally making my own in early 2014! :)

3. What does blogging mean to you and why?

It's my whole world now. It's my career, my friendships, my inspiration and my passion. I love that it's allowed me to go for my dreams!

4. I personally have almost stopped blogging so, What keeps you motivated?

Creating has always inspired me. I can't NOT create. So whether it's writing posts, taking photos, creating artwork, etc - I've always needed to create for myself. I'd be so unhappy if I couldn't, and so my blog never gets boring to me. I'm constantly looking for something new to create! Plus having people appreciate my work means the world to me.

5. Name some (one, two or three) of your favourite bloggers and tell us why they’re your favourite?

http://www.agirlobsessedblog.com/ - Because Mandy constantly inspires me and she writes the bestest posts!
http://www.witchcake.co.uk/ - Holly ALWAYS brings out my creativity and encourages me to be myself, even if it's strange/unusual.
http://www.teapartybeauty.com/ = Hayley because she's HILARIOUS. I'd love to be able to write and brilliantly and naturally as she does, with her personality shining through.

6. What do you do when you’re not blogging?

Painting/drawing takes up a huge amount of my time as I am also an illustrator. Sometimes it's for other bloggers (headers/graphics etc), sometimes small business websites/logos etc and sometimes bigger projects like my upcoming stationery brand collaboration (eek!).

7. What are you most proud of when it comes to your blog?

Everything really, just the blog in itself. I feel confident and proud of it because it's 100% mine. Winning two awards for it last year was probably my proudest moment.

8. Everyone has a favourite and a least favourite post, what are yours?

Oh man! I genuinely think I can't choose! Erm.. I did love this one - http://www.dorkface.co.uk/2015/02/blogging.html - because it explains why blogging changed my life. So maybe that! And I definitely don't have a least fave :)

9. As I’m mainly a beauty blogger I feel like I have to ask at least one beauty question so: If you could only use one kind of beauty product what would it be and why?

Always liquid eyeliner. I NEED my cat eyes everyday. I actually love the Makeup Revolution one, its so cheap but AMAZING. Stays in place all day, great application and JET BLACK :)

10. What would you say to someone who aspires to become a blogger?

Be yourself! Trying to 'fit in' is boring and won't help you! :)

Thank you so much to Jemma for taking part in my Blog Series! Hopefully you have got to know more about her, I know I have!

Come back next Saturday to see who our next blogger is.
